The pedestrian show how society change because technology advances. So people start to be lazy and don't think for them selves, cause television give them all the information, they don't read news or literature. Although it was supposed that everyone can do whatever they want, the powerful people don't want that and think that if someone is different or just don't like advances it is creazy or got a mental disease.
Mr. Mead is a writer, he is characterized for not like technology and being different to the other people. He just go outside and walk and his work wasn't considered a real labor, because anyone in this society read, although they watch television. But being different was a crime, don't like technology, TV, like others. they don't like to be questioned this could be defined as a dystopia.
one day When he was walking through the town, a police approached he and questioned what mr. Mead was doing. The advances in this time was really surprising because this police was a car that talks and move alone, no dependent of humans, no more. This car takes mr. Mead to a clinic so he could understand what they wha t he to think and do.
The story is develop most of the time with dialogues between the police car and mr. Mead. Also with extended metaphors like "ill-lit by television light, where the people sat like death, the gray or multicolored light, touching their faces but never really touching them." This let as see how descriptive was the author in the development of all the story.
To conclude, society made a change by technology, dystopia it's seems in this story and let as see how people it's blind and consume by scientific advances.
